New Orleans?

A place for St. Louis Brides & Grooms to brainstorm about their weddings

New Orleans?

Postby jnj13 » Tue Jun 10, 2014 6:19 am

Has anyone had their bachelorette party in New Orleans or gone there with a group to visit/celebrate? I have never been there and I am the MOH in my SIL wedding next fall and she was mentioning that she would like to go there for her party. I am trying to research some places to stay, hotel vs. renting a house for 4 days, but I just don't know what places to look around where we will be able to walk to and from our lodging. Any suggestions?

I went a few years back with some college friends and we stayed at www.hotelstmarie.com. It is on the French quarter, a block away from Bourbon street. Historic and nice. We had 2 rooms next to each other that shared a large balcony overlooking the pool and courtyard.

I'm going to a batchelorette party there in a few weeks--I'll hopefully have some recommendations afterwards!

I have been there a few times but it's been years...so no real recommendations from me. But I did want to mention that a friend of mine was just there for a larger bach. party over the weekend and from the pictures it looks like they had a blast!!

It's been a few years, but I have been 3 times and we stayed here all 3 times. The location is perfect and the rooms are decent.

I have a guy friend that went there this wknd for his bachelor party. Apparently, two men in the group got pick-pocketed when they first arrived, front pockets, with everything stolen- cash, IDs, credit cards.
That, on top of the news of the random shooting that injured 9 innocent people- I think I might check into other locations!

We had a great weekend! We stayed in the Hampton Inn on Carondelet street and it was a good location--close enough to walk, but away from Bourbon street so we could sleep. The rooms were large and very nice.
We ate at Red Fish grill one night-really great food. Also loved Napoleon house for lunch. Have to eat at Central Grocery to get a mufalleta. Try a Pimm's cup--definitely one of the drinks they are known for. We did a cemetary and a ghost tour and both were fun.
